Top Iranian wrestler suffers injury ahead of world games

Tehran, IRNA – The injury of the 92 kg Iranian freestyle wrestler Kamran Ghasempour has created ambiguity for his participation in Belgrade World Championships slated for September.

Kamran Ghasempour, who had left the national team camp due to an injury, got injured in the freestyle wrestling training today and left the camp again, the IRNA reported on Wednesday.

Qasempour is one of the main hopes of Iran to grab the gold medal in the world competitions in the weight category of 92 kg, Iran’s National Wrestling Team Coach Abazar Eslami told IRNA.

The athlete was injured in his leg and the doctors should comment on his condition in a few days, he added.

Predicting Ghasempour’s injury, the technical staff and the wrestling federation invited Amir Ali Azarpira to the national team’s camp.
