Security in borders possible through neighbors’ unity: Iran

Tehran, IRNA — The chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces has underlined the importance of unity and solidarity among the neighboring nations which is the sole way to achieve the security in borders.

Presence of foreigners will create tension and conflict in the region, Major General Mohammad Baqeri said during his telephone conversation with Azerbaijani Minister of Defense Colonel General Hasanov Zakir, IRNA reported on Wednesday.

Over the phone, General Baqeri called for fostering defense and military relations between Tehran and Baku.

Pointing to good agreements reached between Iranian and Azerbaijani armed forced during the previous years, Baqeri said he believes that the armed forces have potentials for strengthening friendly and brotherly cooperation between the two neighboring countries.

Then, General Baqeri expressed full readiness of Islamic Republic of Iran’s Armed Forces for attending the intergovernmental military committee in the Azeri capital.

For his part, the minister of Azerbaijan said his country sees Iran as its close friend, and welcomes military cooperation with the neighboring country.

The armed forces of Azerbaijan are ready to upgrade the level of military cooperation with the Islamic Republic.
