Syria culture minister calls for more cooperation with Iran

Tehran, IRNA – Syria’s Minister of Culture Lubanah Mshaweh has described Iran as a friendly and brotherly country while emphasizing that both Syria and Iran should create an accurate mechanism of cooperation in the field of culture.

Mshaweh made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Syria Hossein Akbari and the cultural attaché of the Iranian embassy in Damascus Hamid-Reza Asgari on Sunday.

According to the Syrian minister, Iran and Syria have signed numerous memoranda of understandings in different cultural fields such as the exchange of artists, producing cultural products, as well as an agreement between their national libraries.

He went on to say that Iran is Syria’s friend and brother, and his ministry is fully interested in pursuing continued cooperation with the Iranian side in subjects such as visual arts, cinema, etc.

Syria is completely ready for joint activities and drafting new MoUs, Mshaweh said, adding that we need innovative and quick ideas for cultural works.

She said that Iran and Syria need to create an accurate method for future collaborations and incessantly assess joint activities in expert sessions.

Iran’s ambassador to Damascus, for his part, said that there is a proper opportunity for Iran and Syria to pave the ground for developing cultural relations and to encourage efforts for the two countries to get acquainted with each other.

Akbari said that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has emphasized the need for more cultural cooperation between Iran and Syria.
