Iranian FM Urges Muslim Unity in Eid Message

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Foreign Minister of Iran Hossein Amirabdollahian, in a congratulatory message on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, emphasized the need for closer unity among Muslims.

The top Iranian diplomat sent separate messages to his counterparts in Muslim countries on Wednesday to congratulate them on Eid al-Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice, one of the main holidays celebrated in Islam.

In the messages, Amirabdollahian stressed the need for unity and solidarity among Muslims on the path to the fulfillment of the common aspirations and the development of the Islamic communities in various fields.

Also in a post on his Twitter account, the Iranian foreign minister expressed hope that concerted efforts and joint determination of the Muslims would accelerate the positive process of unity and convergence in the Islamic world.

Eid al-Adha marks the willingness of Prophet Abraham to sacrifice his son Prophet Ismail on God’s command.

World Muslims have marked the festival, which comes as the annual Hajj season in Saudi Arabia draws to a close.
