Qalibaf underlines significance of African countries for Iran

Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has said that African countries especially South Africa are of prime importance for the Islamic Republic.

Qalibaf made the remarks at the meeting of a group of political, cultural activists and a number of South African members of the parliament, the IRNA reported on Thursday.

Referring to the common goals of the people of Iran, Africa, and the Muslim world, Qalibaf noted that the importance of African countries, especially the South African country, is not less important to the Islamic Republic of Iran than the BRICS.

In addition to fighting arrogance, economic capacities between nations, especially the two countries of Iran and South Africa, should be taken into consideration in such a way that such measures lead to developing economic and trade cooperation and deepening ties, he underlined.

Earlier, Qalibaf made the remarks in an address to the BRICS Parliamentary Forum in Johannesburg, South Africa on Wednesday.

Qalibaf emphasized that today’s world requires a justice-seeking and spiritual atmosphere and that the BRICS group of major emerging economies – Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa – can play an important role in this respect.
