President Raisi leaves Johannesburg for Tehran

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has left Johannesburg for Tehran after attending a summit of a bloc of five emerging economies, known as BRICS, in the city of Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Iranian president left Johannesburg, South Africa’s biggest city, on Thursday night local time, for Iran after attending and addressing the 15th BRICS summit in Johannesburg in which Iran became an official member of the bloc.

Raisi praised the decision of the BRICS members to expand the bloc, calling it an admirable measure that paves the way for global development based on justice.

President Raisi has attended the summit at the invitation of his South African counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa.

On the sidelines of the 15th BRICS Summit, President Raisi met and held talks with the presidents of China, Brazil, Senegal, Tanzania, and the prime ministers of India and Bangladesh.
