Persepolis Wins IPL Title for Eighth Time

TEHRAN (Tasnim)– Persepolis football team won Iran Professional League (IPL) title for the eighth time on Thursday.

Ali Nemati opened the scoring for Persepolis in Ghaemshahr’s Shahid Vatani Stadium.

Nassaji defender Mehrdad Abdi received his second yellow card in the 15th minute and Saeid Sadeghi scored the second goal in the 28th minute.

Soroush Rafiei made it 3-0 in the 75th minute and right-footed Sina Sarlak found the back of the net for the fourth time three minutes later.

Nassaji was reduced to nine-man in the 81st minute after Farzad Zamehran was shown his second yellow card.

Second-placed Sepahan defeated Mes Kerman 2-1 in Kerman. Milad Zakipour scored the first goal in the 50th minute and Shahriyar Moghanlou made it 2-0 in the 90th minute.

Hassan Moradifar pulled a goal back in the injury time.

Esteghlal humiliated Tractor 7-1 in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.

Mehdi Ghaedi opened the scoring for the Blues from the penalty spot in the 17th minute and scored his second goal in the 43rd minute. Abolfazl Jalali scored Esteghlal’s third goal before the halftime.

Tractor player Mohammad Ghanbari pulled a goal back in the 59th minute but Ghaedi completed his hat-trick two minutes later.

Tractor center back Arash Ghaderi and Esteghlal defender Rouzbeh Cheshmi were shown red card in the 78th minute.

Mohammad Hossein Moradmand scored Esteghlal’s fourth goal in the 75th minute as well as goals from Arash Rezavand (78th) and Jafar Salmani (87th) minutes.
