TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Persepolis football team defeated Esteghlal 1-0 on Sunday to move top of Iran Professional League (IPL) table.
Issa Alekasir scored the solitary goal of the match just five minutes into the second half in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.
Esteghlal, since then, dominated the possession but failed to take advantage of its control.
Esteghlal and Persepolis have played each other 100 times. Both teams have won 26 matches each and 48 matches have ended in draw.
Persepolis moved up to top of the table with 57 points, two points more than Esteghlal.
Sepahan also has 55 points with a match against Malavan, slated for Monday.
