The number of people who have received the first jab of the coronavirus vaccine in Iran has surpassed 4 million, while more than 2.5 million patients have recovered from the infection across the country.
Providing the latest statistics on the coronavirus infection, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said on Thursday that over 4,035,300 Iranians have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine so far.
Sima Sadat Lari also said the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in the country has surpassed 2,945,000 after the detection of 9,657 new cases since yesterday.
She noted that the pandemic has claimed 170 lives over the past 24 hours, while the overall coronavirus death toll in Iran stands at 80,658.
More than 2,508,900 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, she added.
Among those undergoing treatment at present, 3,924 are being kept in the Intensive Care Units of medical centers because of critical health conditions, the spokeswoman said.
Lari finally said more than 20.31 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 172 million and the death toll has exceeded 3.7 million.
