IRGC Commander Reiterates Revenge For Killing Soleimani

The Chief Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Hossein Salami, once again threatened to go after all who had a role in killing the IRGC’s Qods Force commander, General Qasem Soleimani, insisting that the end of the United States is an “undeniable reality.”

In a rhetoric speech on Saturday, Salami vowed, “Mr. Trump! Our revenge for martyrdom of our great General is obvious, serious, and real.”

Rejecting an alleged Iranian plot to assassinate the U.S. Ambassador to South Africa, Lana Marks, Salami said, “Do you think we hit a female ambassador in return to our martyred brother?”

On Monday, Politico cited intelligence sources that Iranian forces were planning to avenge Soleimani’s death by assassinating the U.S. ambassador to South Africa, Lana Marks, who is close to the U.S. president.

Reacting to Politico’s report, President Trump tweeted that any attack “will be met with an attack on Iran that will be 1,000 times greater in magnitude.”

Salami fired back on Saturday, “With the assassination of Hajj Qassem (General Soleimani), they (the enemies) created a permanent source of danger and revenge for themselves. Sooner or later, there will be revenge for his death, and certainly, it will be harsh.”

According to the IRGC-run Tasnim news agency on Saturday, Salami addressed the U.S. President in a threatening tone, saying that those “directly and indirectly” involved in Soleimani’s assassination should wait for “definite, serious and real revenge.”

He went even further by stressing his “serious message” to U.S. officials.

The IRGC’s extraterritorial forces’ Chief-Commander, Qassem Soleimani, was killed in a U.S. airstrike outside Baghdad international airport on January 3, 2020. Responding to the drone strike, the IRGC hit two bases used by the American forces in Iraq.

Hours after the attack, the Pentagon confirmed that more than a dozen rockets had been fired at the Ein al-Assad base and another base in Erbil.

Salami maintained that the United States was expected to respond and that the Islamic Republic was ready to retaliate with “hundreds of missiles.”

In a meeting with the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa al-Kadhimi, in July 2019, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran will never forget this issue and will definitely deal the counterblow to the Americans.”
