TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An International Institute in its latest report released on Tuesday said Iran’s natural gas exports registered a nine percent growth and reached about 19 billion cubic meters (MCM) in 2022.
The institute offered statistics related to the trade of natural gas in the world in its 72nd annual report of the review of world energy stats.
The report put the total world trade of natural gas through pipelines in 2022 at 718 billion cubic meters, which has shown a two percent growth compared to a year earlier.
In 2021, about 704 billion cubic meters of natural gas had been exported through pipelines worldwide.
With the export of 125 billion cubic meters of natural gas, Russia was the largest exporter of natural gas through pipelines in 2021.
Iran’s gas export growth is four times more than the average level in the world.
According to this report, Iran exported 18.9 billion cubic meters of natural gas last year, which accounted for 2.5 percent of the world’s total trade of natural gas through pipelines in this timespan.
Of the total 18.9 billion cubic meters of natural gas exported from Iran in 2022, 9.4 billion cubic meters were exported to neighboring Iraq, 9.1 billion cubic meters to Turkey and 0.4 billion cubic meters to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
