Iran president in South Africa for BRICS summit

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has arrived in Pretoria, South Africa, to take part in the BRICS summit of emerging economies.

President Raisi is visiting Pretoria at the invitation of his South African counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa.

The Iranian president is scheduled to address the summit of the BRICS group of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa and hold talks with some participating heads of states from 70 world countries.

South Africa is the 18th foreign visit of President Raisi since he took office in August, 2021.

The XV BRICS summit of emerging economies is slated for August 24 in Johannesburg, a city in northeast of South Africa.
