TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran applauded the “glorious resistance” of the great Iranian people in the face of the anti-human crimes committed under the comprehensive sanctions regime, pledging to fully protect the national interests of the country.
The Foreign Ministry on Saturday issued a statement in commemoration of the 44th anniversary of adoption of the Islamic Republic as the country’s official governing system in a referendum that took place weeks after the victory of a popular revolution back in 1978.

“In the Name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful
The Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Republic of Iran honors the memory and names of the martyrs of the great Iranian nation who, with their pure blood, replaced the royal, hereditary and puppet regime with the Islamic Republic establishment.
The Foreign Ministry also commemorates the sacrifices of the zealous people of Iran, who rushed to the polls on March 30 and 31, 1979 in a lasting and unique event, following their righteous struggle and after the victory of their revolution that made history under the leadership of Imam Khomeini. In that referendum, 98.2% of people chose the rule of the Islamic Republic as Iran’s political system.
The Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Republic of Iran remembers the historic bravery of the children of beloved Iran in the years of jihad, martyrdom and holy defense and pays tribute to the glorious resistance of the great Iranian people in the face of the anti-human crimes committed under the comprehensive sanctions regime against the independence and self-reliance of the Muslim nation. The ministry also pays respect to the lofty souls of all the martyrs of this great nation, and that of the great founder of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini, and the lofty souls of the martyrs of the Islamic Revolution.
Those in charge of the foreign policy apparatus of the Islamic Republic of Iran, while relying on God the Almighty and continuing on the path of the rule of jurisprudence under the leadership of Ayatollah Imam Khamenei, renew their allegiance to the establishment in full defense of the Islamic Republic of Iran in different international areas.
The children of the great people of Islamic Iran in the stronghold of diplomacy consider themselves duty-bound to fully protect the national interests of the country, and they renew their pledge to raise the proud flag of dear Iran on the heights of national clout and sustainable development along with other members of the Iranian nation, by observing the three principles of honor, wisdom and expediency in the sphere of foreign policy.”
