The death toll from the coronavirus pandemic in Iran surpassed 83,000 on Monday, while more than 2.76 million patients have recovered from the disease across the country.
Speaking at a daily press conference on Monday, Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari put the death toll from the novel coronavirus in Iran at 83,101, saying the disease has taken the lives of 136 patients over the past 24 hours.
She also noted that at least 2,760,229 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across the country.
The number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has surpassed 3,105,600 following the detection of 10,485 new cases since Sunday noon, the spokeswoman added.
Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 3,258 patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.
The spokeswoman also said more than 22.57 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far and over 4.39 million people have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 179 million and the death toll has exceeded 3.88 million.
