<p class="paragraph inline-placeholder" data-uri="archive.cms.cnn.com/_components/paragraph/instances/paragraph_8A8E991D-D268-EE0D-FF95-FF9519F76817@published" data-editable="text" data-component-name="paragraph" data-analytics-observe="off">Melitopol, in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia Oblast, has been under Russian occupation since early March.</p>

<p class="paragraph inline-placeholder" data-uri="archive.cms.cnn.com/_components/paragraph/instances/paragraph_5C44CA8B-9789-70CD-0872-FF98CADC55F4@published" data-editable="text" data-component-name="paragraph" data-analytics-observe="on">The strikes were acknowledged by Ivan Fedorov, Ukraine’s former administrator of Melitopol city, who said they had targeted Russian military bases.</p>
